Historique :	Cette chaire a à l'origine été faite pour l'ancienne abbaye Saint-Paul. Elle est l'oeuvre d'Antoine Munier (1747-?), sculpteur sur bois réputé à Besançon, qui fut sollicité pour de nombreux décors destinés aux hôtels particuliers de la ville. Adossée et suspendue à l'un des piliers de la nef, elle se compose d'une cuve ovale décorée de médaillons finement ouvragés où apparaît la figure de la Foi reconnaissable à son calice, d'un dossier sculpté et d'un abat-voix surmonté d'un ange buccinateur. La richesse décorative et la qualité d'exécution de l'ensemble sont remarquables. Les angelots, bas-reliefs, frises, guirlandes de fleurs, corbeilles d'acanthes participent à un vocabulaire ornemental savant, propre à l'époque de Louis XVI qui exalte comme il se doit la fonction religieuse de l'objet.
